MOONLIGHTING MILLIONAIRE
(Sent in by a friend)

1 John 3:2 – “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

A Cleveland newspaper carried the account of a resident of Johannesburg, South Africa, who owns and manages a large textile factory.  He drives a Rolls Royce, lives in a mansion, and has a full staff of servants.

Docked at Monte Carlo is a 60-foot yacht which he skippers on the Mediterranean Sea.  Yet every morning, 5 days a week, he directs traffic at a busy intersection in the city as a policeman.  Quite unusual – a millionaire moonlighting as a cop!

A Christian may be living in lowly surroundings, yet he is an heir to inestimable wealth.  He may be a day laborer in a mill, but he is still a child of the King.  A believer may be a domestic servant in someone’s home, but he is the possessor of eternal treasures. Only the Christian may sing, “I once was an outcast stranger on earth, a sinner by choice and an alien by birth, but I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down – an heir to a mansion, a robe, and a crown.  I’m a child of the King, a child of the King:  With Jesus, my Savior, I’m a child of the King.”

NOW are we the children of God!  If no other benefit were ours, this would be sufficient.  It means that right NOW we have the privilege of a wonderful relationship and fellowship with the Father through Jesus Christ in the person of His indwelling Holy Spirit.

Often Christians are charged with dreaming of “pie in the sky.”  No, the Spirit-controlled believer lives with eternity in view.  His true identity, which may be concealed by the uniform of the flesh, will one day be fully revealed; for when Jesus returns, “we shall be like Him.”

Wit and Wisdom – The King’s children, the “poor in spirit,” are earth’s true nobility and Heaven’s millionaires!

Point to Ponder - People are more violently opposed to fur than to leather because it's safer to harass rich women than motorcycle gangs.
