Zec 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Zec 9:12 Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee;
I love reading the end of the Old Testament and the Minor Prophets because these books contain many promises that have been fulfilled in the Person and Work of Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 7:14 tells of Jesus’ unique birth — Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Micah 5:2 foretells where Jesus will be born — Mic 5:2 But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
These fulfilled promises give us hope for future promises to be fulfilled.
When we look at our present circumstances and see the consequences of sin, we can get discouraged. The pain, heartache, and sorrow that we can’t avoid can overwhelm us. However, by meditating on fulfilled promises, we can find hope for our future and the coming promises of deliverance.
Titus 2:13 challenges us — Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Titus 3:7 promises us — Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
This hope provides encouragement, calms our fears, and gives us confidence. Missionary Adoniram Judson reminds us that the future is as bright as the promises of God.
Consider – The word blessed (makarios) means to be filled with happiness, prosperity, richness, benefits, the highest good—all the great and glorious benefits imaginable.
