2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness…
Corrie Ten Boom said, “You may never know that Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you have.” She was a woman who knew what it was like to have nothing but Jesus. For a time in her life, she utterly lost everything. Her home, her family, her way of life, her health, her dignity. Everything was taken from her in Hitler’s purge of the Jewish people during WWII. But she chose to live in such a way, accepting that Christ’s grace was sufficient for her. He was enough. Jesus was all she needed in life.
Can you say the same for yourself? Are you satisfied with Christ alone in your life? If you suddenly, or over a period of time, lost everything dear to you, would Christ be enough?
Are you comfortable where you are because of the possessions you own? Are you satisfied with life because of the relationships you have with others? Are you complacent in your life because of what you have accomplished?
Or, on the flip-side – Are you dissatisfied with life? What is it that you have or don’t have, that causes you to forget your need for Jesus?
Hebrews 13:5 says, “Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have; for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
Christ is magnified in our lives when we depend on Him alone, and our witness for Him is the greater for it!
When we depend on our own strength, we get the glory. When we live by our own devices, we get the praise. When we lean on everyone else but the Saviour, He is then pushed aside as nothing more than our last resort.
Reflection—Let Christ be all you need in your life, and let His grace be enough.
