IT

Numbers 16:4 And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:
What is an IT? We might say an IT is something that nags us; something that we simply cannot let go; something that we have to take control of and fix IT for ourselves. An IT in a church can latch onto a congregation like a tick to a dog. ITs have the power to weaken, divide, and destroy.
Numbers 16 introduces us to four men who had an IT. Korah, along with three others developed an IT with Moses and Aaron’s leadership. Interestingly, this was a family dispute. For we find in Exodus 6:18, that Korah, Moses, and Aaron were all cousins. Korah’s IT was that he should have been allowed a greater position of leadership than he had.
In his opinion, his cousins were taking too much power and authority upon themselves. They were exalting themselves a little bit too much over the people. Of course, we know that Korah’s IT was absurd; for Moses and Aaron were simply following God’s appointment for themselves.
We can develop ITs when we either don’t know all the facts, or when we develop some kind of selfish agenda contrary to the will of God. Korah’s charge was a cover-up for his personal agenda. He didn’t get the position he wanted.
You see, people with small hearts usually develop ITs. The only problem is that IT usually festers, comes out of our mouth, and finally contaminates others. We know that when Korah started talking, he found others who had an IT with leadership too.
Do you have an IT? When an athlete develops an IT with his teammates, he usually moves on. Sadly, the same thing happens in churches too. Friend, why not repent of your IT today? Say “Goodbye” to IT before ITdefiles you and others too?
Reflection: There are three E’s that those with IT never consider: Exalting the Saviour, Edifying the saints, and Evangelizing sinners. Keep busy with these matters; not with a selfish IT.
