Is it I?

Matthew 26:21-22 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. 22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?
Before Jesus was betrayed by Judas, the twelve sat down with Jesus to eat as they observed the Passover. Jesus speaking to them foretells how one will betray Him. The Bible says that they were exceeding sorrowful and began to say “Lord is it I?” An important note here is that none of the disciples questioned if it were Judas; they all trusted Judas more than they trusted themselves.
In verse twenty-two, eleven of the disciples referred to Jesus as Lord just like the thief on the cross. When we read down to verse twenty-five, we see that Judas does not refer to Him as Lord but rather refers to Him as Master.
Matthew 26:25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.
The distinction between Master and Lord is very important. The world is full today of people who want to love the baby Jesus in a manger and the identity of calling themselves a Christian. The Bible says in Colossians 2:6 “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:”
The problem with Judas was that he knew Who Jesus was as Master, but he didn’t know Him as Lord. Knowing about Jesus is not the same as personally knowing Him as Lord. The Bible is clear that Jesus is Lord and only through Him is the way to heaven.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Reflection—May we walk in Him as we have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord.
