Ruth 2:12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
Last time, we saw four false securities we tend to trust instead of God. Now, I’d like to give you five very secure things according to the Bible.
- The Scripture is secure and trustworthy. II Peter 1:19, We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
- Salvation through Christ. John 10:28, And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
- The Saint’s reward is secure. Proverbs 11:18, The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
- The Strength of the Lord is secure. Psalm 46:1, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 125:1, They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
- The Share of our inheritance in Christ is secure. I Peter 1:3-4, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
All these things are secure and trustworthy, according to God’s Word. We may say, “You have my word on it.” But a man’s word is not always trustworthy. You can count on God’s Word—it is trustworthy, and it is secure! I can trust Jesus!
Reflection—Ruth never asked “Why?” about the hard things. Her trust was rewarded with favor.
