How To Celebrate Christmas

Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
By proclaiming the Gospel. Of course, this is our privilege year round. It is an honor to celebrate the Lord Jesus, and to proclaim the purpose of His coming. It seems the world can handle a “Baby Jesus” in a cradle, but it doesn’t want to face the sin that caused His crucifixion. Nor do they want to be reminded of the power of His resurrection.
By praising God. Angels praised Him. Shepherds did. Simeon and Anna praised him. And a couple years later, some Gentile wisemen traveled from the east to do so. So if we are right with God, we will praise the Lord Who sits upon His Throne in Heaven. Continually. Luke 2:30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
By proclaiming peace. The night the angels came, they preached peace. It was not a political peace. It was not a social peace. It was an offer of peace from the Eternal God, and Jesus was His peace-offering. God sent a way for man to gain the Peace with God. Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
By pondering the Person of Christ. After the shepherds left, Mary pondered what she had heard. She was thinking about the Christ, not about pleasure and possessions. She was a servant handmaid, and the Baby she held in her arms was her Creator. Luke 2:19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
By proclaiming the good news. That’s what the shepherds did. They did what every Christian should do. They met Him. They knew Him. They experienced Him. And they talked about Him. Luke 2:17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
Reflection— In God’s great gospel, He not only sends, He becomes.
