Holding Hands

Psalm 73:23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
Jesus is holding your right hand. What a comfort, what a blessing, what a wonderful experience and knowledge is this! In today’s duties or routines, He is there holding your hand, guiding you scripturally by His abiding Holy Spirit.
Why is He holding your hand? Simply because He loves you. He has chosen to love you because He is love. Meditate on that for a moment. He IS love, not simply a loving Being (I Jn 4:16). Is it any wonder that the apostle Paul writes that he wants to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge? (Eph. 3:19). Commenting on God’s overwhelming presence, David states: Psalm 139:6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
Overwhelmed by God’s love, Asaph exclaims: Psalm 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
Lovers, young or mature, manifest their love by a simple overt action—they hold hands.
Albert Brumley captures this thought of Jesus holding one’s hand in his song, “Jesus Hold My Hand”:
As I travel through this pilgrim land, there is a Friend who walks with me
Leads me safely through this sinking sand, it is the Christ of Calvary.
This would be my pray’r, dear Lord, each day, to help me do the best I can
For I need Thy light to guide me day and night, Blessed Jesus hold my hand.
Jesus, hold my hand, I need Thee every hour
Through this pilgrim land, protect me by Thy power…
I’m thankful today that the Lord Jesus is continually holding my hand. It’s an awesome thought—yet an even greater daily experience!
Reflection—One day we will see the King Who is holding our hand. What a day that will be!
