God Preservest Them All

Nehemiah 9:6 Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.

Recently, we were visiting the children’s home in Costa Rica with a group from the States. As we were there, we witnessed beautiful mountains, rivers, and animals. As we were driving through the rainforest, I was reading my Bible and happened to be in Nehemiah chapter nine.  Verse six declares the work of the Creator. Speaking of the creation, the Bible says “thou preservest them all.” As Christians, we are to be stewards of God’s creation. We do not worship the creation, but rather we worship the Creator.

Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

We do not preserve mother earth, but the Father preserves the earth. The ministry we have been given is the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5) and is not the ministry of saving trees and animals. We are to share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to a lost world while being good stewards of His creation. The Lord is the One who saves souls and preserves His creation. We are to look to Him and worship Him alone while enjoying the wonderful beauty of His handiwork.

Reflection—Psalm 19:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
