Get On With Living

Colossians 2:6-7 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
It was always an exciting time when summer came and school was out, especially that last year when we finally graduated. Then we could finally get on with living. In a spiritual sense, we should not get stuck on having received the Lord Jesus, but we should continue on with life by walking in Him.
Someone said, “The way in is the way on.” So true! The same faith that gained us an entrance into this spiritual journey is the same way we are to continue. I initially thought when the Lord graciously saved me that all my problems were over and that I would not ever sin again. It was a short-lived delusion, and I had to learn to continue following Him through all the ups and downs, ins and outs, detours and blockades of the Christian life.
So now that we have entered into this glorious life by faith in the Lord Jesus, we are to get on with living the life. Too many profess Jesus but stop at the entrance and produce no evidence of saving faith at all. Just be sure that you are not one of them!
God has given us all that we need to go the distance. We have the Bible. We have the Holy Spirit. We have a church body of fellow believers who are on the journey as well. And we have constant access to the Throne of Grace to get the help we need to keep on walking forward.
We never quit learning and maturing, though in a sense, school is out when we trust Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Yet we must not be content with just one foot in the door. There’s a long walk ahead, and it must be maintained by the same faith with which we started.
Reflection—Keep on walking!
