Forsaken By Family

Psalm 27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
In his hour of fear, David once again spoke in faith, declaring God’s faithfulness. He encouraged himself in the Lord by remembering God’s promise to be always with him. We have the same promise in the New Testament in Hebrews 13:5 “…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
If you are a child of God, you can rest assured by His promise that He will always love you, provide for you, and be with you.
As we travel, we see many young people who have been abandoned by their families. Being abandoned by your family is a difficult thing for a young person to have to encounter. Those who live through that type of childhood are often scarred for life.
We saw this firsthand again yesterday as we took a new girl into the Lighthouse Home. This young lady of 14 was abandoned by her parents and forced to live with an older sister who was abusive. She received a small check from the government each month, but the older sister took it for her own use. She was treated unkindly by the sister and the sister’s husband. I noticed that she never smiled, and I can understand why.
We took all the girls shopping to buy personal items, school supplies, and clothes. For the first time, I saw a smile on her face as she picked out items she liked, wanted, and needed.
I want to thank each of you that pray for the Lighthouse ministry and give financially to help us rescue homeless, abandoned, and needy children.
Reflection—You may be forsaken by family and friends—but you will never be forsaken by the Lord.
