Follow After Righteousness

Isaiah 51:1 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
The Bible lays out a clear principle that peace is a result of righteousness. Paul told the church at Rome, Romans 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
In order to have peace, we must have righteousness. The Bible tells us that the work of righteousness shall be peace. When we follow after righteousness, we are on the path God has for our life. The problems we face in this world today are the result of unrighteousness.
I have never met an unhappy old person that lived his life following after righteousness, yet I have met countless miserable people that have lived wicked lives following unrighteousness. When Paul was instructing Timothy, he tells him in first Timothy 6:11, But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
A life lived following after righteousness will yield peaceful fruit. The opposite is also true. May we search our hearts and ask the Lord to help us follow after righteousness.
Reflection—The devil doesn’t have any happy old people.
