Psalm 84:10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
This portion of Scripture speaks of the lowliest service that could be rendered in the Tabernacle – the keepers of the gates. These men were responsible for the seemingly insignificant job of tending the doors of God’s house. Yet, they considered their humble task to be more desirable than dwelling in the “tents of wickedness.” They found joy in serving the Lord because they were fulfilling God’s purpose for their lives.
Someday they and other “doorkeepers” will be recognized and rewarded by the Lord when He honors them for their faithful, behind the scenes, but important work for His glory.
If you are serving the Lord in an area you feel is insignificant, unnoticed, and perhaps unappreciated, remember that you are of great worth to the Lord. Let Psalm 84:10 be your encouragement. God is watching and will one day reward you for your faithful service. Little is much when God is in it.
Reflection—God’s children will not regret one sacrifice of service. Anything, anywhere is better than living in the tents of wickedness.
