Deep Roots

Colossians 2:6-7 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
As believers, saved by the grace of God through faith, our walk is to be characterized by the same. We are not to get side-tracked by self-efforts and religious routines in our journey.
When we first believed in the Lord Jesus, we trusted His atoning death to pay the debt of our sins and make us acceptable to God. We realized that no amount of works or efforts could ever appease the justice of the Holy God. We knew there was nothing within us to earn, merit, deserve, or make God accept us. Our only hope was… Grace through faith in Jesus.
Now, let us continue down the path with the same delightful belief that Jesus is all we need to be fully satisfied and complete. Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in him…. We may, and should, serve the Lord until we are worn out. But our service should be motivated by a continual faith and love for the wonderful, undeserving grace that God has shown to us.
Also, when we received Jesus as Saviour, we received Him as Christ, the Lord. He is the true Messiah and Lord from Heaven. He is our Creator, and He becomes the Lord of our lives. Therefore, our walk is to be characterized by such. We received Him as Lord Jesus, so let us continue walking and serving Him as the Lord.
Such a walk results in deep roots in the Lord. We are built up and established in the faith. Our hearts will abound with gratefulness and thanksgiving.
Reflection—Good seed on good ground results in a good tree. Continued nourishment results in deep roots.
