Day To Day Deliverance

2 Samuel 22:1 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:
There is a future day of final deliverance, and by the grace of God, we have day to day deliverance available. As believers in the Lord Jesus, we have enemies who seek to destroy and discredit us.
In this song there is both a historical and a prophetic connection. Like the Lord, David had a hard life. He experienced rejection, persecution, and even death threats from his own men. He was tempted to take matters into his own hands when opportunity presented itself to slay King Saul.
Like David, enemy after enemy confronts us as we walk through life. There are people, trials, and temptations that seek to defeat and destroy us. Help is available.
In verse one, David shows that enemies are a reality. In verses 5-7, he shows how deeply his soul was affected by these enemies. We must admit we have them and not live in lala land.
In verses 2 & 3, David had a personal relationship with the Lord. He knew the Lord! Nine times he uses the personal pronoun “my” in describing the Lord. He knew where to find help.
Verse 3 says, “in Him will I trust.” Trust should be the instinct of the child of God. You just do it. Like a child with a skinned knee runs to a parent. You know that your sufficiency is not of yourself, but it is of God. He is your all in all.
Verse 4 adds prayer to the list. No presumption or taking it for granted, but genuine heartfelt calling on the Lord – with praise. Verse 7 uses the terms “called” and “cried.”
