Day Break Of A Bird
For Women By Women

Psalm 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
As the break of day sheds a glimmer of light upon the earth, I can hear the quiet rustling of birds yet in their secure nest under the metal roof outside the kitchen window. But as soon as the sun breaks the horizon, the birds leave their nest and begin to perch here and there, stretching forth their wings in preparation of what the day will bring. It is then that they break forth in loud, cheerful, and vibrant sounds, before flying off to find food and water.
Over a period of several days, I observed the above taking place. The Lord impressed upon me the faithfulness of these birds, giving praise to their Creator first thing every morning. It was a new day with new provisions; they had been kept safe during the night and were now embarking upon a new day.
I found the pattern of these birds to be a challenge to my own morning routine of prayer and Bible study. Do I praise God to see the dawning of another day? Do I break forth in song for the many things that He did for me yesterday with the knowledge that He will do the same for me today? What glory do I give Him each morning as my loving, kind, and merciful Creator?
I found myself face to face with the truth – I needed to be more like the birds!
I, too, should start my day with the joyful proclamation of God’s goodness to me in praise, worship, and glory. If the birds can give such audible praise and glory, surely I – for whom He has done so much more, can do likewise to my God and Redeemer.
Reflection – Psalm 30:12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
