A Strong Family in the Lord

Joshua 24:15 … but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
One of the greatest blessings God can give us is a family that is committed to Him. The world is constantly trying to pull families apart, but God’s plan is for the home to be a place where faith is taught, love is shown, and Christ is honored.
Joshua made a powerful declaration: “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Notice that Joshua didn’t simply say, “I will serve the Lord.” He understood that his responsibility reached beyond himself. He wanted his entire household to follow God.
A strong Christian family doesn’t mean a perfect family. It means a family that knows where to turn when problems come. It means parents who teach their children God’s Word, husbands and wives who seek the Lord together, and family members who are willing to forgive, encourage, and help one another.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children….
Faith should not only be something we practice at church. It should be lived in our homes. Our children need to see us pray, read the Bible, forgive others, attend church, and trust God when life becomes difficult.
The strength of a family is not ultimately found in money, possessions, or circumstances. It is found in the foundation upon which that family is built.
Psalm 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it….
Build your family around Christ. Make God’s Word important in your home. Love one another. Stand together. And determine, as Joshua did, that no matter what the world does, “we will serve the LORD.”
Reflection—Faith and commitment make a strong bonding glue.
